Hbig Infusion
Hepatitis b immune globulin human injection is used to prevent hepatitis b from occurring again in hbsag positive liver transplant patients who have had liver transplants.

This medicine is for infusion into a muscle. This medicine also helps keep you from getting sick if you have been exposed to hepatitis b virus. Hepatitis b immune globulin hbig is a nonpyrogenic sterile solution containing immunoglobulin g igg specific to hepatitis b surface antigen hbsag.
It is given by a health care professional in a hospital or clinic setting. Hbig differs from immune globulin in the amount of anti hbs. Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. It is prepared from plasma donated by healthy screened donors with high titers of anti hbs that is purified by an anion exchange column chromatography manufacturing method 9 10.
The first dose should be given concurrently with grafting of the transplanted liver. The rate of administration should be set at 2 ml per minute. While this drug may be prescribed for children as young as newborn for selected conditions precautions do apply. Immune globulin is prepared from plasma that is not preselected for anti hbs content.
Hepagam b hepatitis b immune globulin intravenous human is a solvent detergent treated sterile solution of purified gamma globulin containing anti hbs. Hbig should be administered through a separate intravenous line using an intravenous administration set via infusion pump. Hepagam b may also be infused in a vein. 20 000 international units via intravenous iv infusion at a rate of 2 ml minute decrease to at least 1 ml min if infusion related reactions develop.
It should be decreased to 1 ml per minute or slower if the patient develops discomfort infusion related adverse events or there is concern about the speed of infusion. Hbig infusion related side effects have been associated with the presence of other unwanted immunoglobulins ig including iga and igm. Hepagam b is formulated as a 5 50 milligrams per milliliter protein solution with 10 maltose and 0 03 polysorbate 80 at ph 5 6.
